Employment Pass

The Employment Pass, handled with precision.

The Employment Pass is the right of entry — the visa that lets a foreign professional live and work in Singapore. Its outcome is decided long before the application is submitted.

The Employment Pass (EP) is Singapore's primary work visa for foreign professionals, managers, and executives. It is applied for by the employer on behalf of the candidate, and it is assessed on a points-based framework that weighs the candidate's qualifications and salary against the composition of the hiring company and the local workforce. A strong application is not a matter of luck: it is a matter of calibration.

Eligibility and the COMPASS framework

Beyond a minimum qualifying salary, applications are scored under the COMPASS framework, which considers individual attributes such as qualifications and salary relative to the local workforce, alongside firm-level attributes including nationality diversity and support for local employment. Candidates with exceptional credentials can qualify under alternative routes, but for most founders the practical work lies in strengthening the profile until it clears the bar comfortably — not in arguing afterwards that it should have.

The dossier

The application rests on documentary evidence: a credible employing company, a role that genuinely requires your skills, a salary proportionate to that role, and credentials that verify cleanly. Everything a case officer might question — the substance of the business, the necessity of the hire, the trajectory of the company — is anticipated and answered before the file is lodged.

Dependants and renewals

An approved pass holder can typically bring a spouse and children on a Dependant's Pass, and in some cases parents on a Long-Term Visit Pass. The pass is renewable, and its long-term value depends on keeping the company and the role in good standing. We steward the renewals as carefully as the first application.
